Betsy Batchelor Nature Artist Reception

A “Meet the Artists” reception will be held on Friday, July 13, from 5 to 7pm at Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery. The gallery will be kicking off a celebration of its seventh anniversary during the first Downtown Gloversville Twilight Market of the summer.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Batchelor, featured artist for July and August, will be on hand to introduce a collection of her 3-dimensional collages made from flora and fauna that she has collected over many years. Betsy is a founding member of Micropolis and has been in a leadership role since the beginning of the art co-op. She is now expanding her involvement by showing her artwork.

In her artist’s statement Betsy writes, “What interests me in these found objects is surface variations and textures, colors, and shapes. My goal with each piece is to create a three-dimensional object which functions as a whole but which upon careful observation reveals the uniqueness of each natural element.  I want the viewer to see form within each piece without my work becoming representational.”

A new show of artwork by Micropolis member artists will also be on display in the gallery. Work will include paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, batik, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery.

Free and open to the public. The show runs through August at Micropolis, 30 N. Main St., Gloversville. The gallery, which is located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, is open seven days a week. (MON-FRI / 8AM-7PM  —  SAT / 8AM-5PM  —  SUN / 9AM-4PM)  For more information, please go to
